
Traffic stop sends 2 to jail for drugs: North Wildwood, NJ, Police
A traffic stop in Cape May County earlier this week sent two people to jail on drug charges.
The North Wildwood Police Department says on April 10th, two of their detectives stopped a vehicle being driven by 52-year-old James Sheeley with a passenger, 31-year-old Tyler Hutton, both from Salem, for multiple traffic violations.
During the stop, officials say Sheeley was found to have an active warrant for his arrest out of Salem, and a search found him to have heroin, drug paraphernalia, and an unlawful knife.
A police K9 then allegedly detected more drugs inside the vehicle; a search warrant yielded heroin, cocaine, Suboxone, and Tramadol. The search additionally revealed a controlled dangerous substance and drug paraphernalia belonging to Hutton, per officials.
Sheeley was charged with several offenses, including the following:
- Fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon
- Second-degree certain persons not to possess weapons
- Possession of drug paraphernalia (disorderly persons)
- Third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance
- Several traffic citations
Hutton was charged with the following:
- Third-degree possession of a CDS
- Possession of drug paraphernalia (disorderly persons)
- Traffic citations
Both men are being held at the Cape May County Correctional Facility.
