Calls for New Jersey Gubernatorial candidate Mikie Sherrill to release her disciplinary records related to the 1994 United States Naval Academy cheating scandal have widened.

42 Members of the New Jersey Legislature have formally called for Mikie Sherrill to demonstrate transparency.

We were collectively stunned to learn last week that Congresswoman Sherrill was barred from walking in her graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy due to her involvement in the 1994 cheating scandal that impacted her class. While we respect her service, we are deeply disappointed that she denied her involvement during her first campaign for Congress and has maintained that lie ever since. The Naval Academy's honor concept makes clear that a midshipman does not lie, cheat or steal. New Jerseyans deserve to know whether Congresswoman Sherrill upheld that standard. As someone running for Governor of New Jersey, Congresswoman Sherrill owes the people of our state full and total transparency on this matter. The public has a right to know exactly what Congresswoman Sherrill said to Naval investigators at the time, what violations she committed, and the full extent of her punishment.

The New Jersey Legislators Have Concluded

That the only way for Sherrill to provide transparency for the citizens of New Jersey is to immediately release all records of her involvement in the 1994 cheating scandal at the Naval Academy.
