The Atlantic City, New Jersey Mayor is facing a multi count indictment for child abused and is also facing new witness tampering.

Now, with the result of yesterday’s 5th Ward Atlantic City Council special election, Marty Small has lost control of a majority of City Council.

Maria Lacca narrowly lost the seat last year to Muhammad 'Anjum’ Zia.

Zia lost his seat when it was proven in a quart of law that he did not live in Atlantic City.

This led to a Small ally, Mohammed Huq was appointed to fill the seat, which simultaneously triggered the special election.

Lacca defeated Huq yesterday and it’s being called a repudiation of Small.

Small also suffered two losses at yesterday school board elections as well.

We caught up with Lacca, who said:

"I am deeply honored by the trust the voters have placed in me". "I am proud of the issue-focused campaign we ran and congratulate Councilman Huq on a well-run race. Now is the time to unite and build a brighter future for our city - one that is safe, prosperous, and thriving for all its hardworking, middle-class families, said Lacca.

Lacca’s platform includes:

  • commitment to increasing transparency in government.
  • improving safety.
  • ensuring that the voices of underrepresented communities are heard.

“I ran for council because I believe in the potential of Atlantic City. I believe in its wonderful people, its culture, and its future,” said Lacca.

“We just need a government as good as our people," Lacca continued. "You can feel it in the air: the political times in Atlantic City are changing,” said Lacca.

Lacca advertises her cellphone number for those constituents who need her assistance at (609) 442-4275.
