Camden County, NJ, Man Admits Failing to Pay $810,000 in Payroll Taxes
CAMDEN, N.J. — A man who owned a construction company in Camden County has pleaded guilty to failing to pay more than $810,000 in payroll taxes to the IRS.
Earlier this week, 60-year-old Tyrone Pitts of Lawnside pleaded guilty in Camden federal court to one count of failing to collect, truthfully account for, and pay over to the IRS payroll taxes.
According to federal authorities, Pitts was the owner, operator, and president of Arline Electrical Construction Services LLC from 2020 through 2023. He had significant control over the company's financial affairs and was responsible for collecting and paying over to the IRS payroll taxes withheld from employees' wages.
Instead, Pitts almost entirely failed to file the required employment tax returns and failed to pay approximately $810,403 in employment taxes to the IRS.
Pitts Faces Up to Five Years in Prison
The charge Pitts faces carries a maximum penalty of five years behind bars and a fine of up to $250,000.
Sentencing is scheduled for January 12th.
