13-year-old Boy Killed in Gloucester County, NJ, Tractor Accident
Franklinville, N.J. — Authorities say a 13-year-old boy died Monday afternoon after the farm tractor he was riding overturned and pinned him to the ground in Gloucester County.
Officers with the Franklin and Elk Township Police Departments responded to the 1100 block of Swedesboro Road just after 5:30 Monday afternoon.
At the scene, they found the boy unconscious and unresponsive beneath the overturned machine.
Cops Lifted Tractor Off Boy
Officers from both departments worked together to lift the tractor off of the victim, and they immediately began life-saving measures.
The boy was taken to Cooper University Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
An adult man suffered minor injuries in the incident; he was treated at a local hospital.
Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office Investigating
According to investigators, the juvenile had been helping a family member dig a hole using the tractor. He was riding on the equipment with an adult male when it overturned.
The Franklin Township Police Department and the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office are investigating. Potential criminal charges will be determined when the investigation concludes.
