We had a wonderful day in Cape May City, New Jersey, yesterday.

The extended warm weather has been fantastic and I hope that you’ve been enjoying it.

We spent a lot of time at Congress Hall, America’s oldest seaside resort, which opened in 1816.

At the bottom level of Congress Hall sits “The Boiler Room.” This is literally the area where the coal would be stored and the coal fired burner sat.

Now, it is a great restaurant, with a DJ, dancing, countless televisions and a great food and beverage menu.

The original boiler plate (door) is mounted on the wall right before you walk-in.

The Boiler Room is complete with a brick-oven that makes a mighty fine pizza, in fact, one of the best that you’ll ever have.

They make a number of diverse pizzas as follows:

Margherita - house plum tomato sauce, basil, mozzarella.

Pepperoni - house plum tomato sauce, mozzarella, "cup & char" pepperoni.

Mushroom - roasted wild mushrooms, aged cheddar cheese, turnip purée, Beach Plum Farm bacon, red onion, white truffle oil

Sausage - house plum tomato sauce, mozzarella, sliced sausage.

Soppressata & Capicola - sweet soppressata, hot capicola, fig jam, red onion, goat cheese, mozzarella, aged balsamic

Four Cheese - house plum tomato sauce, fontina, whole milk ricotta cheddar, black pepper (You can add white anchovies).

Smokey Pulled BBQ - house-made bbq sauce, Beach Plum Farm hickory smoked pulled pork, red onion, spicy serrano peppers aged white cheddar, cilantro. (You can add add pineapple).

Prosciutto & Arugula - house plum tomato sauce, mozzarella prosciutto di parma, arugula.

Here are a few examples:

If you have never tried them, here is a nice look at The Boiler Room’s wonderful meatball appetizer.

Congress Hall looks great in the run-up to Thanksgiving.

Just like Disney World, they transition beautifully from Thanksgiving to the Christmas holiday season.

Please enjoy our photo gallery below, featuring great photos from Congress Hall, The Blue Pig Tavern, The Boiler Room, The Great Lawn and Christmas Wonderland, The Ballroom at Congress Hall, The Ebbitt Room (at The Virginia), Beach Plum Farms and more.
