An Atlantic City, New Jersey resident has reported to us that he/she is very unhappy about losing access to open and close the windows (at the Ocean Club Condominiums) … and, the balcony has now been locked to open only a few inches.

We have been covering this issue for more than two years.

An Ocean Club Condominiums resident has shared with us that:

We have an apartment with no opening windows or exits. It's a death trap if there were a fire outside my front door. Their very own fire regulations say to go to your window in the event of smoke and fire.

Our source added that, “They came today and actually made the door opening even less it's not even 3 inches.”

”And as you can see if I have the screen door closed, it's no opening whatsoever. My landlord claims the building is pressuring him to get me to sign a one year lease. I am currently month-to-month. I can't sign a lease without knowing when this will be completed and talking with other renters today in the elevator many of them are moving.”

Here’s a photo of what the balcony and a window looked like on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

We have also received a copy of a letter that has been sent to those residents who are directly affected by the current balcony work that is being performed.

It reads:

It’s understandable that residents want access to their balconies, especially during the spring and summer seasons.

Of course, management is required to make certain that the balconies are structurally safe.

As always, we’ll keep you posted.

This is a developing story.

We’ll provide updates as warranted.
