Atlantic City Police Respond to Domestic Call to Mayor’s Home

We have confirmed that on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at approximately 10:30 a.m., the Atlantic City, New Jersey Police Department responded to a telephone call placed from Mayor Marty Small's residence regarding a domestic disturbance in progress.

The telephone call for police assistance was placed by Mayor Small himself, in order to de-escalate a situation involving one of his children in the Small home at the time.

There are many rumors circulating around Atlantic City today that the phone call to the Atlantic City Police Department was placed by Smalls’ police security detail.

We have confirmed that this is not true.

Because the domestic disturbance involved the Mayor’s residence, the call to the Small residence was handled by Atlantic City Police Department superior officers, who arrived in unmarked black SUVs.

The photo directly below shows the black police SUVs lined up in front of The Small residence.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office criminally charged both Marty and La’Quetta Small on April 15, 2024, with the following:

MARTY SMALL is criminally charged with:

• 2nd-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
• 3rd-degree aggravated assault
• 3rd-degree terroristic threats
• disorderly persons simple assault.

LA'QUETTA SMALL is criminally charged with:

• 2nd-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
• 3 separate counts of disorderly persons simple assault.

Marty and La’Quetta Smalls’ first court appearance will be on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

We have sent a written request to the Atlantic City Police Department for a public comment about today’s domestic disturbance at The Small residence.

Atlantic City Police Captain Kevin Fair, the public information officer shared the following;

On May 1, 2024, City of Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small Sr requested a police response to his residence regarding a family dispute.

Officers responded and spoke with all parties on scene. Officers determined that the incident was not criminal in nature and no further action was necessary, said Fair.
