Atlantic City, NJ, Candidate Files Police Report After ‘Night of Terror’
An Atlantic City, New Jersey political candidate has filed multiple reports to the Atlantic City Police Department for what she has described as a ‘Night of Terror.’
Maria Lacca is running for the Atlantic City 5th Ward City Council seat, currently held by an appointee named Mohammed Huq, who is closely aligned with Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small.
On Friday, October 25, 2024, Lacca said that an unidentified man was seen in the Chelsea section of Atlantic City.
Lacca alleged that person(s) are “stealing scores of Lacca's signs from resident's yards, destroying them, and/or leaving their butchered remains behind” said Lacca.
"Violence of any kind has no place in this city. I call on my opponent Mohammed Huq to denounce political violence in all forms and the orchestrated 'Night of Terror' against me and my supporters,” said Lacca.
“I can take the blows from my opponent and his handlers, but when my supporters are targeted, that goes way too far,” said Lacca.
Further, Lacca contends that;
“The evidence Lacca submitted to the ACPD includes photographic and video footage as well as written testimony detailing the crimes committed. One of the accused, a young adult male wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans, and construction boots, was captured on video stealing and disposing of the yard sign at Lacca's own home,” said Lacca.
Lacca has said that she will continue to work with the Atlantic City Police Department, “to help identify this individual and make certain justice is served,” said Lacca.
Here are some additional photos provided by Lacca showing damage to her campaign signs.
Lacca notes that:
“In a year of unprecedented election related violence, the perpetrators often targeted Maria's face when vandalizing the signs during the Night of Terror,” said Lacca.
