One of the area's summer staples, Smitty's Clam Bar in Somers Point, is set to open for the season.

Part of the fun of getting ready for the busy summer season is eating all the delicious food before all the tourists come down for the summer months.

When Does Smitty’s Clam Bar Open for the season?

Thursday, May 8th, will mark the 52nd season for the popular Somers Point seafood restaurant, The Clam Bar or Smitty's, right at 910 Bay Ave.

What are the Clam Bar's hours?

They will be open seven days a week from 4:30 pm, to 9 pm and generally will stay open through the first two weeks of September.

The Clam Bar has been serving seafood platters and soups and offers a laid-back atmosphere right on the bay in Somers Point.

On any given summer day, there is a line of hungry customers ready to eat at The Clam Bar, but bring a cooler; the wait can be long, but worth it.  Friends and family will sit and enjoy the summer breeze, waiting for their name to be called.  You can sit up at the counter or inside at a table.

People come from all over to get a taste of their unique seafood offerings, and no trip to the Jersey Shore is complete without a stop at the Clam Bar.

Must-Try Dishes at The Clam Bar

If you make the trip, you can't go wrong with one of their baked dishes, their Dijon, wasabi, lemon, and wine sauces.
