Eagles add Running Back in Free agency

Eagles Trade CJGJ to Houston

According to multiple reports, the Eagles are sending safety CJ Gardner-Johnson and a 2026 sixth-round pic to Houston in exchange for guard Kenyon Green and a 2026 fifth-round pick. Green was the No. 15 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Texas A&M.

TRADE 🚨

The teams are also swapping fifth and sixth-round picks in 2026.

Green missed most of 2024 after suffering a dislocated shoulder in Week 9.

As for Gardner-Johnson, he was a key member of the Eagles' secondary and signed a three-year contract last offseason. A name to watch to replace him at the safety spot could be promising young players Sydney Brown, Tristin McCollum, or 2022 first-round pick Lewis Cine.

Milton WIlliams signs monster deal with New England Patriots

Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Milton Williams is signing with the New England Patriots, according to multiple reports. The deal is for four years, $104 million for an average of $26 million per season, and includes $63 million in guarantees.

Williams is coming off where he appeared in all 17 games along the interior of the defensive line. He registered 24 tackles and five sacks, adding two sacks in the Eagles’ Super Bowl win over the Chiefs. The defensive lineman entered the league as a third-round draft pick in 2021 by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Josh Sweat Reunites with Jonathan Gannon in Arizona

Milton Williams wasn't the only member of the Eagles defensive front to fly the coup on Monday.  Josh Sweat landed a four-year, $76.4 million deal with $41 million guaranteed to reunite with former Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, who is the head coach in Arizona.

Sweat totaled 41 tackles and eight sacks for the Eagles last season but was a monster during the Eagles' Super Bowl run, adding 2.5 sacks in the win over the Chiefs. Sweat had been with the Eagles since being drafted in the fourth round of the 2018 draft out of Florida State and has 43 career sacks in 104 career games with the team. In nine career playoff games, he added five sacks.

Isaiah Rodgers Lands in Minnesota

While it might not have grabbed the headlines, the Eagles lost a key contributor to their defense, losing defensive back Isaiah Rodgers to the Minnesota Vikings, who got a two-year, $15 million contract with $8 million in guaranteed money.

With Rodgers gone, the Eagles now might have an interesting dynamic at outside corner with a few options.  The team could bring Darius Slay back, though there are reports that Slay will sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers when he is officially a free agent.  Another option would be to move Cooper DeJean to the outside corner position, or they could promote 2023 fourth-round pick Kelee Ringo to the starting spot.

Eagles Trade Kenny Pickett to Cleveland

Finally, on Day 1, the Eagles made a trade, swapping quarterbacks with the Cleveland Browns. The Eagles sent backup Kenny Pickett to Cleveland in exchange for a fifth-round pick and quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who will likely be the Eagles third QB behind Tanner McKee. Pickett appeared in five games, throwing for 291 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

Pickett gets a chance to start in Cleveland while the Eagles seem poised to turnover the No. 2 job to McKee, who flashed in his season finale start against the New York Giants. The team also adds another fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, giving them four total picks in Round 5.

LB Oren Burks Lands Signs with Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals agreed to terms with Eagles linebacker Oren Burks, to a two-year, $5 million contract.   Burks stepped in and played well in place of Nakobe Dean during the Eagles' Super Bowl run and was a key player on the teams' special teams unit. The veteran started the regular season finale against the Giants and piled up 17 tackles, then added 25 tackles, three for loss, two forced fumbles, and one sack across three postseason starts.
