Cape May-Owned Business Opens New South Jersey Living Community
The term Affordable Housing has been a polarizing political term for a few decades. But the history of the issue dates back to post-Civil War America, when there were multiple periods of economic recessions and depressions.
For states with diverse regions and populations, such as New Jersey with a wide range of property values, families whose income falls into the Working Class and Lower Middle Class Economic Brackets have trouble finding safe places to live.
One South Jersey Business is creating a new housing community that is committed to long-term affordability for residents in New Jersey's southernmost county.
New Residential Community On Major New Jersey Highway
The owners of the La Mer Beachfront Resort in Cape May have taken ownership of a property where a former Motel and short-term rental community used to operate.
Located on Route 47 across the street from the RV Center in Middle Township, the property formerly known as the Whispering Woods Motel is on 4.79 acres. Originally built in 1965, all the buildings and land were on sale during the 2024-25 Winter Months for $1.5 million.
The new ownership and management have made several upgrades to the property ahead of rebranding the residential community. The new name is Green Creek Commons and is being marketed as a " long-term affordable rental community", and is a ten-minute drive from all the stores and restaurants in Rio Grande.
Here is the public statement about the new Green Creek Commons as found on the La Mer Beachfront Resort Facebook Page:
"We are pleased to announce the newest addition to our residential workforce housing portfolio: Green Creek Commons....Formerly a short-term rental property, Green Creek Commons is now under new ownership and management and is no longer accepting weekly or monthly rentals. This marks a fresh beginning as we shift the focus of this property to providing comfortable, year-round living in a welcoming and professionally managed environment.....From exterior improvements to interior enhancements, every change reflects our commitment to creating a place that truly feels like home. Our official rebrand to Green Creek Commons reflects our dedication to quality, community, and long-term living.
