Former Eagles wide receiver and punt returner Britain Covey has found a new home with an NFC team.

Covey, who spent the past three seasons in Philadelphia, has signed a 1-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams.

Covey’s Time in Philly

He has dealt with various injuries over his two seasons. He suffered a broken scapula in Week 3 that limited him to only five games in 2024.

He was mainly used as a punt returner, and had just 11 receptions over the past two seasons as a slot receiver, including seven for 34 yards in 2024.

He had his best game as a pro in Week 2 against the Falcons, catching six balls for 23 yards.

Overall he played in 34 games with the Eagles, catching 11 passes for 76 yards adding 771 punt return yards and 236 kick return yards becoming one of the NFL's top return specialists.

Who Replaces Covey?

With Covey out the Eagles turned to Cooper DeJean as the main punt returner in 2024, something they might look to change in 2025. Covey was one of the league's top return men, so replacing him will be something to keep an eye on at training camp.

DeJean is an option along with newcomer Avery Williams, who the team added in free agency. Williams, a running back, missed the 2023 season with a torn ACL but was the Falcons kick and punt returner in 2024, and is the favorite to fill that role with Philadelphia.

Williams has over 1,800 combined return yards since entering the league in 2021.

Covey joined the Eagles as an undrafted rookie in 2022 after a stellar collegiate career at the University of Utah where he amassed 2,311 yards from scrimmage, 11 offensive touchdowns and added five return scores.
