The Philadelphia Eagles have added a free-agent pass rusher to their defense, adding a former second-round pick on a one-year deal.

This is a typical Howie Roseman type of move, adding a former high draft pick at a low cost on a one-year deal.

Former Michigan star Joshua Uche, 26, who had 11.5 sacks during the 2022 season with the New England Patriots, will add some pass-rushing ability to the Eagles' defense that is expecting the retirement of Brandon Graham and has already lost Josh Sweat in free agency.

However, outside of that big 2022 season, Uche has just nine total sacks in four seasons.

New England drafted Uche in the second round of the 2020 draft out of Michigan and then traded him during the 2024 season to the Kansas City Chiefs with just two sacks between the two teams.

During his five-year NFL career, he has been used almost exclusively as a pass rusher and would likely fill that type of role with the Eagles in 2025.

He was a raw prospect coming out of Michigan, missing his first two seasons with a torn meniscus and stress fracture, but he had a big senior season (11.5 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks) that made the Patriots trade up to take him with the No. 60 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
