Vic Fangio Share Eagles Defensive Injury Updates and Starting Secondary Roles

The Philadelphia Eagles injury report on both Wednesday and Thursday featured just two players.

Edge rusher Jonathan Greenard and rookie tight end Eli Stowers were the only two players that appeared, being listed as limited both days.

On Thursday, Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio didnt give much of an update on his status.

"It's day by day,"" Fangio said Thursday. He hasn’t practiced a whole lot yet, so we'll be careful with that."

He did practice on Wednesday, but was limited, with Fangio saying that he "did okay."

However, even if he is able to go play on Sunday, fans shouldn't expect him to play a whole bunch.

"It's going to be a while before he's game ready for a full load," Fangio explained. It'll be a pretty good rotation."

With or without Greenard, who the team traded for this offseason and then signed to a $100 million extension, the team has some intriguing options for playing time including guys like free agent additions Arnold Ebiketie and A.J. Epenesa.

"They've made a lot of improvements from when they first got here, Fangio said.

Marcus Epps Named Starting Safety

One other thing Fangio confirmed on Thursday was that veteran Marcus Epps will start at safety for the Eagles.

"He was just solid the whole way through," Fangio said. We still like Michael [Carter], and we have the ability to play him some there too."

One thing Carter adds to the defense is versatility, and its something Fangio pointed out on Thursday.

"Michael's very versatile," Fangio acknowledged. He can play nickel, can play dime, can play safety, and we plan on using him."
