The Philadelphia Eagles' first injury report of the NFL season was released ahead of their Week 1 opener on Sunday against the Washington Commanders.

Jonathan Greenard's Status Remains Uncertain

The big one is edge rusher Jonathan Greenard, who was acquired for two third-round picks back in April and was given a four-year, $100 million extension that keeps Greenard with the Eagles through the 2029 season.

The team is looking at him as a key piece of their pass rush after losing Jaelan Phillips to free agency.

Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said he didn't know when Greenard would be back.

If Greenard is unable to play, expect to see plenty of Jalyx Hunt, Nolan Smith, and free agent additions Arnold Ebiketie and A.J. Epenesa.

"I'm very happy with [OLB] Nolan [Smith] and [OLB] Jalyx [Hunt]. AK [OLB Arnold Ebiketie] is coming along," Fangio said during Training Camp in August.

Rookie TE Eli Stowers Limited in Practice

The other name on the injury report was second-round pick, tight end Eli Stowers, who was limited with a hamstring injury he suffered in the preseason.

"He's an exciting young talent," Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion said during training camp.  He's getting better each day. At that position in particular, there's so many different things that we're working on. He's doing a nice job, and he'll keep getting better."

The second-round pick has struggled in camp and was listed as the third end on the Eagles' initial depth chart.

Washington Commanders Week 1 Injury Updates

Washington had eight players listed on its practice report Wednesday; three of them were limited.

Most notable is second-year running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt, who has been dealing with a groin injury. He rushed for 805 yards and eight touchdowns last season for the Commanders.

A pair of edge rushers, K’Lavon Chaisson and Odafe Oweh were also listed as limited.
