Huge New Coffee Bar and Cafe Soft Launches in Historic Smithville, NJ
There's a project in Smithville I've been watching like a HAWK and now it's finally complete! A brand-new full-service coffee bar and cafe!
If you're familiar with Village Greene at Historic Smithville you might remember a Greek restaurant that used to be right across from Fairest of Them All clothing store.
Unfortunately, that little eatery and it's walk-up froyo window closed long ago.
In July of 2023, I hit up local proprietor Jenna Perfetti whose name was attached to online rumors I'd read about she and her family taking over the old Greek restaurant located at Village Greene to open up a coffee bar. To my excitement she CONFIRMED the gossip!
New Coffee Bar Comes to Historic Smithville, New Jersey
The old space has been completely renovated by The Perfetti Family and transformed into a cool new cafe!
Introducing Surf Road Coffee Bar & Beach Bowls.
On its official Facebook, Surf Road writes, 'The coffee you've known and loved in Smithville, NJ for decades is back with MORE to offer! Acai Bowls, fresh smoothies and a myriad of additional offerings!'
There are currently six healthy bowls on the menu. I can't wait to try the 'Sweet Leaf' made from cantaloupe, strawberries, basil, and honey.
Family-Owned and Operated Surf Road Coffee Bar is New in Smithville, NJ
Surf Road comes to us from Adam Perfetti (Smithville's OG coffee roaster) and his two sons Cole and Alex.
Cole Perfetti is a recent valedictorian graduate of Academy of Culinary Arts where he received the prestigious Nathan Schwartz Award! He's kind of like South Jersey's own Carmy Berzatto from FX's The Bear!
Cole's brother Alex is also heavily involved in Surf Road's day-to-day operations.
Surf Road is truly a family affair and a labor of love. Its motto is 'Take the High Road'. How inspiring is THAT?
The old ice cream walk-up window below is now being used for coffee instead! That's really convenient when it comes to needing to fuel up for annual events like Village Greene's Mayfest and Octoberfest!
Paul Brown, Surf Road's marketing and public relations rep, was stoked to get his hands on the coffee bar's Chai Tea Latte.
Eventually, Surf Road plans to add flat bread pizza to its food menu. The Perfetti's also hope to showcase acoustic live music and outdoor movies during Green Market Thursdays.
And even further down the line, Surf Road plans to be a coffee bar that gives back to the community through Surf Road Cares, a non-profit organization supporting kids impacted by alcoholism and addiction.
Surf Road celebrated its soft opening on April 30th. Customers are welcome while staff continues to dot i's and cross t's ahead of the cafe's official Grand Opening on Saturday, June 8th.
Surf Road Coffee Bar is open 7 days a week. Follow their socials as hours are subject to change.
