New Jersey’s Last Joe’s Crab Shack in Deptford, NJ Closing for Good
Joe's Crab Shack in Deptford, New Jersey has announced its closing for good. Sad news but even sadder is that it was the very last one in the Garden State.
What is Joe's Crab Shack?
Joe's Crab Shack is a laid-back seafood chain restaurant known for serving crab buckets and stuffed shrimp, plus other American comfort foods like clam chowder, garlic bread, and even burgers.
Joe's Crab Shack in Deptford, NJ to Permanently Close
At present, it looks like only 30 Joe's Crab Shack restaurants are still in business, Patch.com reports. After Joe's prior owner went bankrupt in 2017, it closed 40 of its locations nationwide, Patch.com reports. The Clifton, New Jersey location closed its doors for good in December 2023, according to 42 Freeway.
Now, the Deptford, New Jersey location (in the Deptford Landing Shopping Center off Clements Bridge Road) is suffering the same fate.
Joe's Crab Shack's Chief Operating Officer Terry Turney shared the disappointing news Thursday that following what he calls a 'natural lease expiration' the Deptford restaurant will close.
Clues were there earlier this month, 42 Freeway reports, after the building showed up on the Loopnet real estate website as being available for lease.
In a statement Turney wrote, 'We thank the community for the many years of support. We value our employees, their dedication to our company, and are working to relocate them to our sister locations nearby.'
When Does Joe's Crab Shack Deptford, NJ Close?
The last day to dine at Joe's Crab Shack in Deptford will be Sunday, May 26th. After that the restaurant will be vacant. So, go get those crab buckets on while you've still got the chance!
It's sad to see Joe's go, but hopefully something new and delicious will swoop in to take over the space.
