WANTED: Dennis Twp, NJ Ex-Jail Guard is Fugitive in Child Sex Case
The New Jersey Attorney General wants to know if you have seen Kurt Young.
Dennis Township Man on the Run From Child Trafficking Charges
Authorities are looking for a former NJ corrections officer wanted after failing to appear in court to face charges of paying for sex with a trafficked minor.
Kurt Young, 56, from Dennis Township, was scheduled to appear in September 2023 on charges of conspiracy to commit human trafficking, engaging in prostitution with a child, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Instead, Young skipped out during jury selection for his trial in Cape May County and has been on the run since.
A judge issued a bench warrant for Young's arrest, but state and federal authorities have had no luck finding him.
Young's Co-Defendants Have Already Been Sentenced
Young's co-defendants, Derek V Ross, 30, of Atlantic City, and Tiffany N. Davis, 43, of Egg Harbor Township were tried and convicted in 2023.
Ross got 20 years in state prison and a $15,000 fine and Davis is serving 15 years in state prison.
Derrick Ross admitted that he brought the 14-year-old victim to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City in November 2019.
Ross thought he was connecting with a patron who answered an online ad for an escort, but it was really an undercover investigator.
Tiffany Davis testified that Young paid her and Ross to bring the teen to his Dennis Township house for sex, authorities said.
The child picked out Young from a photo lineup and was able to describe his home in detail, according to a criminal complaint.
The Attorney General Asks for Help Finding Young
Tuesday, the Attorney General’s Office asked for the public's help with the ongoing search for fugitive Kurt Young.
“The investigation and prosecution of human trafficking is a priority mission, as this crime leaves a devastating impact on its victims, which are often the most vulnerable members of our community,” said Attorney General Platkin.
“We urge people to call our confidential hotline 855-END-NJ-HT if they are being victimized, or see someone who they suspect is being exploited in this manner.”
