Pilot Walks Away From Galloway Twp, NJ Plane Crash

A man piloting a single-engine Cirrus SR-22 airplane was able to walk away from the plane after it crashed into a wooded area between West Liebig Street and Genoa Avenue in the Pomona section of Galloway Township on Wednesday.

Pilot Crash Lands Small Plane into Trees

The pilot of the single-engine plane, who has not been identified, crashed into a field northeast of Atlantic City International Airport about 3:40 pm on Wednesday, according to a spokesperson for the FAA.

A social media report on Scan AC from Don Purdy, who lives in the area, said the pilot chose not to try to land on the Garden State Parkway because of the volume of traffic on the highway.

Instead, he crashed the plane into a patch of trees after deploying a parachute system in the plane about 400 feet above the tree line.

A CBS3 helicopter video shows the parachute stuck in the treetops.

Neighbor Rescues Pilot With A Ladder

Here's an amazing story.

Jamie Allen, a man who lives close to the crash site and was standing in his backyard when he heard the plane backfiring and then crash, told the Press of Atlantic City he ran into the woods where he used a ladder to help the pilot get out of the plane.

The pilot walked away from the crash scene without injuries.

As many as two dozen first responders then began arriving at the site. The Federal Aviation Administration plans a detailed investigation.
