New Jersey’s Must-visit Sandwich Shop For a Tasty Bite
Let's talk about food. The sandwich is popular because it’s quick, portable, and endlessly versatile. It can be made with just a few simple ingredients or crafted into something gourmet, making it fit for any budget, taste, or occasion. From a kid’s lunchbox to a fancy café, sandwiches work everywhere because they’re convenient, customizable, and satisfying—all in one easy-to-eat package.
Who Invented The Sandwich?
The sandwich is most often credited to John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, an English nobleman in the 1700s.
The story goes that he wanted a meal he could eat with one hand while continuing to play cards, so his servants put meat between two slices of bread. That idea caught on, and people began calling it “a sandwich” after him. Maybe the casinos should go around with sandwich trays instead of gin and tonics, lol
New Trader Joe's Opening In New Jersey
According to Lovefood, the best sandwich shop in New Jersey is White House Sub Shop, located in Atlantic City.
"This sandwich shop has been running since 1946, and Atlantic City locals are extremely fond of it. Founded by an Atlantic City tailor in the wake of World War II, the White House Sub Shop has welcomed a string of showbiz heavyweights in its time; Oprah Winfrey, Frank Sinatra, and The Beatles have all stopped here for their hoagie fix. Order the White House Special (pictured): a two-foot-long white sub stuffed with deli meats such as salami and capocollo, and finished with provolone cheese."
